Counter tops
Silestone countertops can help you achieve the London look in your kitchen. Not only is Silestone durable but also easy to clean, can handle pots and pans and is naturally beautiful. Both the colour and edge style influences its overall look. Straight edges look spare and modern, whilst a bevelled edge creates a softer profile to compliment any room design. Stainless Steel
If you’re looking to create an urban feel in your kitchen, stainless steel appliances are a popular choice. Appliances such as refrigerators, stoves and dishwashers look great in stainless steel.
Also, stainless steel splashbacks will help you to create that London look. Stainless steel looks smart, but marks easily, though this is less of a problem with splashbacks, which get fewer fingermarks than worktops or unit doors.
Contemporary Tone
To achieve a minimalist city kitchen feel, cool colours are perfect. Blue, green, grey, silver and even black and white are just some of the colours that come to mind when thinking of a metropolitan kitchen. Using these colours in your kitchen will create a modern feel; if you wish to brighten the room up a little, add a splash of red, yellow or even lavender.
Must have kitchen appliances
A must have kitchen appliance is the induction hob, its super efficient and heats up very quickly; perfect for those Londoners constantly on the go.
An espresso machine is also a must have in your London Kitchen. Achieve quality coffee at home and let your coffee machine do the work! I think the Francis X7.1 would go perfectly in a contemporary London kitchen and will be great for a pick-me-up on those early mornings. Once you’ve got the coffee maker, you’ll need a wine cooler too, to keep bottles at optimum temperature.
Let’s not forget over-sized American style fridge freezers with an ice maker, which are every Kitchen lover’s dream; a London kitchen wouldn’t be complete without one.
We all know washing up is a chore, so why not hide an LCD screen behind a unit door for TV while you wash up.
Optimise Storage
Having enough room in a city kitchen can be difficult, especially when there are so many tempting gadgets out there. Try giving away everything you don’t use regularly, for example that fondue set that has been sitting at the back of your cupboard for the last 5 years.
Make your cabinets go as high as they can is a great way to create space in your kitchen. Also by making the cabinet doors glass, this will automatically make your kitchen appear bigger. Save room at the end of a cabinet run for a tall cabinet; most kitchens don’t have space for a walk in pantry so tall cabinets are useful alternative.
In addition, another great way to optimise your storage is by hiding small appliances in cabinets, however make sure you avoid tambour doors as they are awkward to flip up and access.
Kitchen Island
If you like to entertain then an island in your kitchen is essential. Make sure you have enough room for the island and add storage underneath and appliance on top of the countertop. Keep the colours of the island similar to the rest of the room and make sure the countertop matches the rest of your kitchen.
